Even though i should finish Michelangelo, I decided to start a new project…a replica of Judge Death’s helmet. Brian Bolland’s version, of course!
I drew up plans based on my head template. In addition to the helmet, I plan to sculpt a bust of Judge Death as a helmet stand. Interestingly enough, because of his weird alien anatomy, the lower bar of the visor falls right in front of a humans eyes.
I made a 3D model, converted it to a paper model and assembled it.
I slushed Smooth-Cast 300 into the helmet.
The first sanding smoothed it out pretty good. A coat of Bondo will fill in the big dents. Lots more sanding to go!
Despite selling my Dr. Fate helmet, I felt like making an Amulet of Anubis. This is formed on the lathe from MDF.
I painted it with the same paint that I used on the Fate helmet and shipped them off to the buyer.
The resin copies of Michelangelo’s nunchucks got a base coat of brass and a clear coat a week later.
That’s about it for now. I have a few other irons in the fire that I’ll show later!
