This gun is from the 1976 sci-fi film “Logan’s Run”. I was able to find some very detailed plans online, including WORKING acetylene blasting models (as in the film)! I used plans from the original prop maker, Richard Coyle. It’s rare when you can find any sort of detailed specs, so this was a joy to work on.

I used styrene plastic and bits of PVC to build the gun.

The entire build can be seen here.

    WOW!

How many layers of .080 did you use to build up the gip frame?

  2. I believe it was 6 or 7. I was matching the .5″ thickness that was specified in the plans.

    This is great!

I'm going to try and make one now!

Wow, I have wanted to do the same thing, and now I have seen your gun, I know that I can give it a go.

Wow!! Would love to see the progress on the life clock mount that you made for this. Will you do a tutorial on that as well?

That's nice. I'm really keen on making a working gas powered one. The valve in the original has me stumped – so I was thinking of using a Schraeder style valve instead.
